A common question I am asked on Instagram is where I recommend people get their news from.
The answer is always, frustratingly for people who probably have very little time to read news: From as many different (reliable) places as you can manage.
Looking specifically at UK newspapers, we have some on the right, such as the Telegraph, Sun and Mail, and some on the left, such as the Guardian and Mirror.
All media outlets make arguments for the issues they support or oppose. But some can push their agenda in a far more aggressive way - the Telegraph’s relentless attempts to discredit the use of lockdowns during the pandemic is one example - with little or no acknowledgement of the nuances in a topic.
